Nikki’s post-workout recovery shake

My favourite post-workout recovery shake is the mighty chunky monkey with added coconut oil, a medium-chain fatty acid. I love that I can have this and also attend my favourite yoga class after a serious legs, bums and tums session.

Advice from Nikki

(Please be advised that I have been working out and eating well for a long time so my body can handle intense periods of exercise and requires shorter rest periods. Always make sure you listen to your body and never over exert yourself as you may cause injury to your body no matter how many chunky monkeys you consume! hehe).

All about protein shakes

Protein shakes are the perfect end to a hard training session. They contain high levels of proteins and essential nutrients that can be consumed instantly. Also, adding the coconut oil adds a natural sweetness, therefore you can cut the added sugars and hold onto the essential fatty acids contained in the coconut oil.


  • 120g chocolate protein powder (I recommend vegan, but any is ok)
  • 1 frozen banana
  • 1 tablespoon Lucy Bee Coconut Oil
  • 240ml  unsweetened almond milk
  • 1/8 tsp of vanilla extract
