Bath Salts

What could be more perfect than a long soak in a hot bath at the end of a gruelling day at work?

When our muscles are sore and aching, there’s nothing we love more than running some hot water, sprinkling in our Lucy Bee beauty salts (take your pick – we have Himalayan, Epsom and Dead Sea to choose from!) and a small dollop of Lucy Bee Coconut Oil, then lying back and emptying our mind. Aaaahhhh…bliss!

With their rejuvenating, invigorating properties, our trio of bath salts have quickly become our bathroom staples. While Meg is in the midst of her crazy, intense training for the Three Peaks Challenge1, trust us when we say that she’s really discovered just how soothing they can be!

You see, not only can bathing in beautiful, natural salts help to relax the body but they also work wonders at soothing sore and tight muscles, topping up the body’s mineral absorption and drawing out nasty toxins. Heck, they can even improve the appearance of skin! Is there anything they can’t do…?

If you want our opinion and if you’re looking to kick back and relax, then you can’t go wrong by tipping some salts into your bath. But if you’re not sure where to start, or which salts to get, here’s what to look out for:

  • Himalayan Bath Salts

Our pretty pink Himalayan salts aren’t just for cooking with. These precious, rose-coloured salts hail all the way from the foothills of the Himalayas and are rich with trace minerals, electrolytes and elements. They make an ideal mineral bath soak but can also be used to purify the air, treat skin conditions such as acne and psoriasis and ease tired feet (as well as sprinkled over your meals!).

  • Epsom Salts

First discovered way back in the 17th century by a farmer in Epsom, Surrey, these natural salts are now produced by replacing the carbon found in the Dolomite rock with Sulphur (which creates pure, natural magnesium sulphate), which can be used to help our body absorb more magnesium – of our range, these have the highest level of magnesium. When added to a bath, this can also help to draw out toxins, absorb goodness and ease tired muscles.

  • Dead Sea Salts

Unsurprisingly, our Dead Sea salts are gathered from the Dead Sea, which is world-famous for its health benefits. In fact, tourists have been flocking here for centuries to make the most of these wonderful, therapeutic waters. Why? Well, these unique salts contain some very special minerals as well as plenty of magnesium, which gives them the most amazing healing properties. We also love to add them into DIY body scrubs and they were even used by the ancient Greeks to treat arthritis, muscular pain and relieve tension.

Bath Salts Recipe for a Soak

Simply add 250g of your favourite salt to a bath of warm water, stir to help the salts to dissolve then lay back and relax. For an added treat, add a teaspoon of our coconut oil to help moisturise your skin – just be careful though as this does make the bath slippery!

Body Scrub Recipe

Mix equal parts of your favourite Lucy Bee salt and coconut oil to make your own body scrub. Massage over your body then bath or shower off. Follow this by massaging a small amount of coconut oil over your body to really moisturise your skin.

Essential Oil Body Scrub Recipe

Mix equal parts of your favourite Lucy Bee salt and coconut oil, now add your favourite essential oils. These are great because they have so many incredible, powerful properties you can pick them to suit your needs. Massage over your body then bath or shower off. Follow this by massaging a small amount of coconut oil over your body to really moisturise your skin.

I like to do this a couple of times a week. It’s perfect before a holiday or if you’re in need of a bit of ‘you time’ and relaxation!
