Have you every made your own natural toothpaste? It’s easy, healthy and can work out cheaper than bought toothpaste. Lucy Bee’s Guide: How to Make Coconut Oil Toothpaste.
All you need is a bit of time and:-
- A Mixing bowl
- A Jar*
- Coconut Oil (5 tbsp)
- Baking Soda (5 tbsp)
- Essential Oil, to taste (optional)
- Mix everything together and then put in a jar with a tight lid.
- You may wish to use a blender to make the toothpaste extra smooth.
- If you want to add flavour and aroma with an essential oil like peppermint, do check that the oil is of a recognised food grade.
Coconut Oil and Oral Health
Coconut oil is 50% Lauric Acid (which is also contained in a mother’s milk) and is anti-bacterial and anti-fungal. Raw and organic coconut oil, free from additives will benefit your oral health. Many health practitioners believe oral health is the foundation of overall health.

The institute produced a study regarding tooth decay and the use of several oils. Coconut oil was the only one to inhibit the growth of bacteria including Streptococcus mutans, an acid-producing bacterium which is a major cause of tooth decay.
